Bio
Aljoša Rebolj
Born in Kranj, Slovenia. He started acting at the age of twelve and has since then worked with most prominent theatre directors, such as Tomaž Pandur (pandurtheaters.com). He studied at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, as well as drama at the Academy of Theatre, Film, Radio and Television, both at University of Ljubljana.
He also spent over ten years as the host on the national TV channel TV Slovenia and commercial TV Kanal A, gaining experience in front of TV camera.
Simultaneously, he travelled the world from Siberia, Asia, Tibet, Latin and South America … First trip, first photographs. Pursued studies of photography delving into the alchemy of classic photography by spending his nights in the darkroom. His first published photograph appeared in the French magazine Photo. During following years his photographs were published by a cross-section of the editorial press and were commissioned by virtually all major advertisers, such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Futura DDB, Luna TBWA, Mayer McCann, Leo Burnett Croatia, Imelda Ogilvy, New Moment … This was shortly followed by prizes for ads on Slovenian advertising festivals and a short-listing at Cannes for the advertisement for Duracell. The diversity of his numerous assignments in the last two decades - from Kamchatka to underwater photography - turned him into a real ‘quicky’ especially on sets of TVC productions. His ability to provide clients a shot literally in minutes if needed is the ability especially preferred by line producers and commercial directors of bigger productions where time is money.
Diverse international experiences, hardworking and humorous character, communication skills earned in front end behind the camera in combination with his sense for empathy charmed not only clients but even celebrities such as Blanca Portillo, Bélen Rueda while being exposed to his cameras.
He privately pursues his quest for beauty with photography in theatre. These photographs were published in the Spanish and South American daily press (El Mundo, El Pais …) and some international theatre publications, as part of his ongoing art project / photographic exhibition SCULPTURED TIME which in years 2011/12 has been travelling Ljubljana, Maribor, Bogota, Belgrade and Madrid.
